How it works
Lid sensor
Reads the hinge angle from the Mac's own sensor, so the glass is up before the lid is halfway down.
Five triggers
Lid closing, screen lock, display sleep, inactivity, or a keyboard shortcut. Enable only what you need.
Six styles
Frosted Blur, Dark Glass, Blackout, Paper, Liquid Glass, or Aurora — with blur intensity and overlay opacity on sliders.
Touch ID
The glass stays until Touch ID or your login password succeeds. Or let it clear when the lid opens.
Menu bar
Protect, unprotect, and flip triggers from the menu bar. ⌘⇧B works from anywhere.
Progressive blur
As the lid dips past your threshold, the blur ramps in with the angle — not a jump cut, but the glass rising as the screen tilts away.
Two assertions
Espresso can hold the display on, the system awake, or both. Pick per run.
Timed or open
30 minutes, an hour, two hours, or until you stop it. The countdown lives in the menu bar.
Battery floor
Set a percentage. Espresso lets the Mac sleep before a long job drains it flat.
AC only
Optionally pause on battery and resume by itself the moment power comes back.
Menu bar
Start, stop, and change duration without opening the app. Remaining time shows inline.
Clean release
Every assertion is released on stop, on quit, and on crash. Your Mac never stays stuck awake.

Permissions
None. Espresso uses the system power assertions, so there is nothing to approve.
Helper
Espresso uses a tiny helper you approve one time in System Settings. It does exactly one thing — it can't see your files, camera, browsing, or anything else — and it switches itself off automatically the moment Espresso stops.
Installing BlurShield
You get a disk image after purchase. Four steps to install it:

Download the disk image
BlurShield.dmg lands in your Downloads folder, about 8 MB.

Open it
Double-click the DMG. A window opens with the app on the left and an Applications shortcut on the right.

Drag it to Applications
Drop BlurShield onto the Applications folder, then eject the disk image and delete the DMG.

Launch it once
Open BlurShield from Applications. It moves into the menu bar and starts with your Mac from then on.
Private by design
No babysitting
The glass is drawn on your Mac. Nothing about your screen is captured, stored, or sent anywhere. No account, no telemetry — pay once and it works on up to three Macs.
Espresso uses the power assertions macOS already provides, so nothing is patched or injected. Set a duration, walk away, and the Mac returns to normal sleep on its own.
